Longlands is set amidst fields and parkland just one mile from the village of Cartmel. Nestling at the foot of Hampsfell and enjoying magnificent views across Cartmel Valley, it was built in 1810 and originally known as Langlands, probably because if a Scottish connection, and reflects the elegance of that age. Hidden by the old house lies a secluded courtyard where building that were once filled with the bustling activity of dairymaids, housekeepers and gardeners, have now been transformed into peaceful holiday cottages. Longlands has consistently won the highest awards from the English Tourist Board for quality. This gives guests the assurance they need booking a holiday cottage. The ETB inspector concludes her report by stating that "Overall Longlands at Cartmel is providing a high standard of comfortable accommodation with obvious thought and care towards the welfare of all guests." ETB Report Longlands at Cartmel appeals to all from young to old, families to couples. It is a superb place to travel round the Lakes but also has much to offer right on your doorstep.
