Location

To many people, Cartmel is best known for its race course, just a few yards from the village square where meetings are held in May, July and August (also home to the village cricket team).

Cartmel, famous for it’s Priory, has changed little over the centuries and offers all the amenities of village life with a post office, grocer and several gift shops. There are also four pubs and two restaurants in the Good Food Guide in the village, one with a Michelin star, which are popular with locals and visitors.

A little further afield, visitors can find Holker Hall, historic Kendal, the homes of Beatrix Potter, Morecambe Bay, Lake Windermere, Sizergh Castle, Levens Hall and award winning topiary gardens, and the homes of William Wordsworth and John Ruskin.

A superb place for many outdoor pursuits with horse riding, fishing, cycling and watersports all available within the immediate area.

Whether your holiday is to be relaxing, active or a mix of both, there is plenty to do and see.
